The raffle was once again very well supported with the raffle prize this year being very kindly donated by Michel Tramontana, and we are very grateful to him for this valuable support.

The Villa Marina Arcade, was entirely satisfactory as an exhibition centre and the members of staff were wholly cooperative and helpful. The changes that we had made to the screens had created the additional walking space that was further improved since we used 2 less screens as we had some 50 less items to exhibit.

This was our first attempt for a long time at organising the Preview which I believe on the night was very successful and enjoyed by those who attended.

Overall attendance during the following week was very poor compared with previous years and I believe there are 3 basic reasons for this: - 1. Many people were off the Island attending the Maundy Service at Westminster Abbey, and particularly on the Thursday, many others were watching the TV broadcast of the service. This is certainly a one off and unlikely to be repeated for very many years; 2. The weather was particularly fine and warm and thus encouraged people to amuse themselves out doors; and 3. We were not permitted to erect banners on the colonnade railings so there was no place near the arcade for impact advertising to potential customers on the seaside of the promenade.

Sales were also down with the the financial climate not recovered at present.

Our Sponsor Jonathon Corlett of C Tarleton Hodgson seemed pleased with the Preview and enjoyed the evening.
